Dugan Sentencing a slap in the face to all 150 members!

Yesterday William E Dugan was sentenced to three years probation for violating federal labor law by demanding and accepting custom-made livestock feeders for his buffalo farm in Maryland from a company that employed the union local’s workers. Dugan was also fined $30,000 and ordered to pay restitution and the costs of his supervision while on probation. Hopefully the slush fund being paid by the staff will cover those costs for poor Bill. And for all you idiots who claim Dugan is a labor leader extraordinar he also admitted to the following. In 2002, he accepted the rental and delivery at his Maryland farm of a front-end loader, with a value of $7,265, from a company unionized by Local 150 workers; in 2004, this same company provided Dugan with a skid steer (small four-wheel drive engine-powered machine with a lift arm capable of being fitted with various attachments) at a price several thousands of dollars below market value; between 2003 and 2005, he accepted two 400-bushel truckloads of feed corn each year that, together with cash payments to Local 150, comprised the “rent” that a farmer paid to cultivate land the union owned in Will County; in 2003, he converted a front-end loader belong to the union apprentice program for his own benefit at his Maryland farm, and between 2001 and 2006, he misused a semi-tractor and trailers belonging to the apprentice program, while serving as the program’s board chairman; and in 2005, he filed false reports with the Labor Department failing to disclose the benefits he obtained from companies whose workers were represented by Local 150. Is that the leadership you pay dues for? Oh and remember all of your current officers were taught by him. http://www.justice.gov/usao/iln/pr/chicago/2010/pr1014_02.pdf

Rumor hast it the Sweeney regime is planing to desecrate the honor and integrity of Local 150 members with the presumed dedication of the members training site at the August Local 150 picnic. After spending millions in hard earned dues to pay for this facility how dare they dedicate it to a self confessed criminal. If any of you members buy into this you dont deserve to be called operating engineers. This is the members facility and should be dedicated to them.

Calling All Heavey Lifters?

The Sweeney gang is looking for members to do thier dirty work when stuffing union meetings for critical votes to keep the empire intact. They also want your email, cell phone, and text and tweets. They need volunteers to help elect their choice of politicians not yours. Go get em, baaaa. (click here)

Huge turnout for 150 Installation of Officers?

All 300 plus members flooded the countryside hall to watch the Sweeney gang get sworn in for another three years. Well not really 300, fact is that 100 of them were staff. So 200 hundred Sweeny supporters showed up to eat free sandwiches and beer. Ill bet President Vince Giblin was in a foul mood knowing his son Dennis Giblin, past Pres. Bus. Manager of Local 68 pleaded guilty and is going to jail. Seems to be a pattern at the IUOE.

Ever wonder why you cant find an agent of officer on a friday? Well they have more important stuff to do like going to a white sux game and watching Dennis (the hog) Gannon throw out the first pitch. Wonder if he's managed to get on the payrole yet. After all $500,000 a year is tough to make it on.

Dugans new ploy to avoid Jail

Documents were filed in court last week Dugan filed this with the court on 10/1/10. Lawyer Duffy will be in court on this on 10/7/10 and he will be sentenced on 10/14/10 ! The documents plead with the court that Dugan may be ill and his wife is sick. Just another attempt to avoid the fate he deserves for stealing from the members.

Hawaii anyone?

I hear all the officers are heading to Hawaii in November for a benefits conference, the local is broke but they all need to go to fix your benefits. Last time I checked we were paying for a full time benefits guru to take care of that, or maybe he's not smart enough to take notes and get them back to the trustees. Im sure our invitations are in the mail.

Any body seen my BA today?

Just a little note to the members of Local 150. Dont bother calling the hall today Monday August 9, 2010, because all your overworked and overpaid staff, officers, lawyers, and business agents are at the Glen Eagles Golf Club in Lemont IL. at the Sweeney Open. If you need to contact a BA, or officer here is the Club Information. Sweeney Open Monday  August 9 @ 9am shotgun start Gleneagles Country Club 13070 McCarthy Road, Lemont, IL 60439 Phone: (630) 257-5466. I think all the out of work members shold take a ride out there to see if they are organizing some new work for the members. Maybe they can get you a job caddying for Cisco.

Steve Cisco negotiates worst contract in the history of Local 150

Never in the history of Local 150 has the members suffered more at the hands of one person. Steve Cisco, who never ran a piece of iron, almost flunked apprentice ship, never took a surprise drug test, has handed the members of local 150 the worst contract ever. No wages, members continue to pay into the black hole created by him and his H&W trustees. For over twenty years him and Dugan bragged they had negotiated the best contracts ever, and for twenty years, with the economy and market share this local has had, a monkey could have done his job. Now when times are tough all he can do is maintain less than the status quo. It's easy to see why he compares himself to a Nazi. Way to go Steve, your ass ought to be fired. Anyone who votes for this slug deserves him and whats coming after him.

Oh by the way you want to know why we negotiated with the laborers? Because we both run the same equipment.

Work explodes in District 3

Apparently the Sweeney magic must have worked and everyone in District 3 is back to work. It must be so because a couple weeks ago 5 permits were sold to workers from Jack Pease construction. Its nice to see that your agents in District 3 care more about their illegitimate contractors than they do dues paying members.

Whats going on in Springfield?

It looks like Local #150 "lobbyist" Todd Vandermyde will be busy this veto session, not working for 150 members but kissing gun loving republicans asses that would bury labor in a heartbeat. I wonder how Sweeney, who's supporting Quinn, will react to Vandermyde (who as we speak) is continuing to work hard to elect republicans just over the gun issue, most of whom don't support labor, ever!!

Bill Dugan finally charged by the Feds

CHICAGO — The retired leader of a regional labor union local was charged today with violating federal labor law by allegedly demanding and accepting livestock feeders from a company that employed the union local’s workers for his buffalo farm in Maryland.  The defendant, William E. Dugan, was charged in a single-count criminal information filed in U.S. District Court, announced Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; James Vanderberg, Special Agent-in-Charge of the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General in Chicago; and Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Dugan, 76, of Hancock, Md., and formerly of Mt. Prospect, was president and business manager of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, headquartered in Countryside.  The 23,000-member local represents workers in construction and a variety of other industries in Indiana, Illinois and Iowa. Dugan will be ordered to appear for arraignment on the misdemeanor charge, which is violation of the U.S. Labor-Management Relations Act, at a later date in U.S. District Court. According to the charges, in April 2005, Dugan demanded and accepted concrete buffalo feeders valued at more than $900 from Company A, whose workers were  represented by Local 150. The government is being represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick King.  Other Labor Department branches that participated in the investigation are the Employee Benefits Security Administration and the Office of Labor Management Standards. The labor law violation carries a maximum penalty of a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.  If convicted, the Court would determine a reasonable sentence to be imposed under the advisory United States Sentencing Guidelines. The public is reminded that an information contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt.  The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
